VICTORVILLE — Company officials announced that February 2018 is the target opening date for California’s first Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, which will be located in the High Desert.
Breeanna Straessle, manager of corporate communications for the Tennessee-based company, told the Daily Press the Cracker Barrel plans to “locally hire” 250 full and part-time employees for the store located on Amargosa Road in Victorville.“All our stores have antique decor on the walls (no replicas), which we customize to the local community,” Straessle said.
In the 1870s, Heber "Pete" Huntington established a stage stop, Huntington Station, at Mormon Crossing.
In 1885, the newly established telegraph station at the railroad siding of "Victor", named for the California Southern Railroad's General Manager Jacob Nash Victor, was the beginning of what developed as today's Old Town Victorville.
“Our design team will begin researching Victorville and selecting the antique decor in the coming weeks.”The 10,000-square-foot building, which will be capable of seating 180 guests at one time, is currently in the planning and construction phase along Restaurant Row.“The High Desert store will be Cracker Barrel’s 649th store when it opens,” Straessle said.
